Deja vu Defense. The best running back tandem in the ACC, and maybe the nation, finished with 79 yards. QB pressure was constant and scary. And the exclamation point was the Noles signature defensive TD. Downright Dynasty-like.
Upside down offense? For the fifth game out of nine this year, FSU's ground game outdid the aerial attack. How's that for the balance Jimbo was hoping for?
Reversing the streak. Look for the Noles to now have Clemson's number in the near future as the Tigers rebuild on offense. Cullen Harper, James Davis and Aaron Kelly are seniors. Spiller is a junior who should go pro, as well as WR Jacoby Ford.
Speaking of stingy D. Clemson was only 2 of 15 on third down conversions. Tigers should've gone for it more on fourth down, where they were 2 out of 3.
A Star is Born. With FSU's designated speedster Bert Reed serving detention again, Louis Givens literally burst on the scene with a near TD run. Wow, give this guy a scholarship. Can't wait to see him get the ball in space again.
More D'Vo. Not a gripe, but how about a few more packages for the dangerous Mr. Richardson? Call it the Wildcat Formation or just trickeration, but it's the change-up pitch that opposing defenses usually whiff on.
Memo to Mickey. North Carolina put on a clinic for stopping Georgia Tech's tricky triple option by lining up in a basic 4-3 defense and playing disciplined coverage. Tech rolled up 323 rush yards but couldn't sustain a drive or enter the red zone until Jonathan Dwyer's long TD run late in the game. Full disclosure: Carolina's open date gave them an extra week to prepare for the Jackets' option.
Don't expect another shootout. Next Saturday is shaping up as a slobber knocker. FSU has the ACC's top defense. Boston College is a close second.
