1. Oh well, another year and another beat down by the gatros (their …) aka crocs of XXVI. But in this rivalry week at least we beat them in women’s basketball. Huh? What? We lost to them? Drat!!! Well at least in this rivalry week we beat them in the swim meet. WHAT!!! We got swept by the lizards?!?!?! Damn!! Well then, how about this. At least we kicked more field goals than they did!! So there!!!!
2. Seems to me I saw that game before. Are we sure ABC just didn’t show a re-run of last season’s game?
3. During the pre-game radio show, William Floyd said “All the pressure is on Florida. Florida State just needs to go out and have fun.” THAT was having fun?
4. Given the outcome of the game that was similar to last year which was similar to the previous year, which was similar …. oh you get my point …. after FSU won the coin toss and deferred to the second half, in retrospect I wonder if we could have deferred to next year?
5. Asked before the game how his team would slow down the aforementioned lizards, Bobby Bowden replied “We hope the rain will.” Nope, so much for that game plan. On to Plan B.
6. After yet another tight end was meandering unattended for yet another touchdown against the Seminole defense this season came the comment from Mrs. BFT, “Do we NOT know where the tight end is?” The answer to that question would of course be yes. He’s in the endzone. With the ball BTW. Scoring a touchdown. A wide open touchdown. No one near him. Just thought I would make that clear.
7. Here’s a thought. Maybe if we let them score more often we could have worn them down faster with all those long kickoff returns by Michael Ray Garvin.
8. And the bright side in all of this from Saturday? At least Visor Boy lost too!! Does that help?
9. And as Tim Tebow (you may have heard of him although I know he hasn’t received much press during his college career) rushed for yet another long gainer came this comment from Gene Deckerhoff, “Tebow is going for the juggler.” Yes, juggler, not jugular. Come to think of it maybe a juggler would have been more entertaining.
10. And let’s all give the Maryland Terrapins a great big thank you. And/or the middle finger salute. But definitely one of the two. It’s your choice.
Bonus Depressingly Random and Even More Depressingly Meaningless Thoughts
11. In watching the highlight show (yes, I’m a glutton for punishment apparently) came that commercial for the ACC championship game in Tampa where various former Seminoles and Bobby say “See you in Tampa.” We’re assuming they meant as spectators like the rest of us.
12. Asked at halftime what adjustments his team would make for the second half, Virginia head coach Al Groh said “We don’t make adjustments after the half. We make them before halftime.” With the Cavaliers managing to score exactly ZERO points in the second half, that comment from Groh sure does explain a heck of a lot. Enjoy, Cavs fans.
13. Sign seen at ESPN’s Gameday show in Tulsa: “Sorry, I Party." Nooooooo!!! College students partying??? Who would have figured.
14. If you watched every single second of all four quarters of Thursday’s NFL “contest” between the Tennessee Titans and the Detroit Lions, you: 1. either have a serious addiction to football, or 2. You REEEEEEEAAALLY hate talking to your in-laws.
15. This depressingly random and even more depressingly meaningless thought left intentionally blank to allow more time for those of you in attendance at the game yesterday to dry out.
