Is Michael Snaer another Toney Douglas?
Tonight at 8:00 on ESPN most Florida State fans will get their chance to see the highest ranked recruit ever to commit to FSU play in the McDonald’s All American game in Miami (at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables).
So is Snaer another Douglas who was Mr. Everything to FSU this season?
Yes and no.
Toney was a combo guard who could handle both the point guard and shooting guard positions. Michael will need some work on his ball handling. Snaer also comes in four inches taller than Douglas. And while Toney was not hesitant to guard anyone, Snaer was able to handle post players at times.
But as far as shooting the ball and other aspects of the game are concerned, the numbers are quite similar.
As a junior Toney averaged 28.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game and improved upon that in his senior year, averaging 34 ppg.
Michael this past season put up 28.1 points, 10.8 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game.
Both players have a strong work ethic and motivated to be the best player they can be.
It will be extremely hard for anyone to replace what Toney meant to the Seminoles. But it sure looks like Michael Snaer will try to do just that.
So tune in tonight and see if you see any similarities.
