In addition to that, I'm not sure why Tebow is part of the Heisman watch. He isn't even one of the top 50 in many of the primary QB categories, which I think should be important when considering him the best player in the nation. He is a dual-threat which is a plus for him, but his numbers this year and his inability to come through and take a bigger lead against mediocre teams isn't saying much for him. UF has an incredible offensive package and Tebow might actually be one of the weaker links this year. (obviously that doesn't take away from last 2 years where he was a much more dominant player)

Even when you include rushing yards, Ponder is ahead in total offense by a good 700 yards. You also have to consider that Tebow is an option quarterback and the Noles' playbook is not centered around Ponder running the ball so the rushing stats can't even be compared in that sense. If you look at rushing yards on passing plays the comparison is actually much closer. So taking into consideration that UF plays are designed for Tebow to run, he is really just a direct snap fullback half of the time. Clearly Ponder is the better passer. Tebow is definitely the better short gain man though. On the other hand, Tebow is also forced to run much of the time because he isn't good enough through the air to pass more often

Wouldn't "Total Offense" include rushing stats?

Seriously, rushing stats should be considered in there considering that both are dual-threats, not just pocket passers.

Actually as far as rushing goes Tim on has about 300 more yards then Ponder and Ponder has almost 1000 more yards passing then Tebow so its pretty negligible. Combined they each have 14 TD's and Ponder doesn't have 4 picks to go with them.

well, as much as I'd love to crow with you about all this, you might want to check rushing statistics, also....little lopsided back towards the dark side on that one
