Telvin Smith re-committed to FSU Monday night at a public event in Valdosta. Adam McDonald of The Valdosta Daily Times was there and told us Smith "seemed pretty excited about his choice."
Smith told the crowd gathered at a local restaurant that he chose the Noles because "he felt like FSU is a program that's about to take off. And it feels like home," apparently a reference to former Lowndes teammates Greg Reid and Gerald Demps who chose Florida State a year ago.
McDonald said that while Smith's announcement was the final one of the evening, he didn't dramatize it by choosing an FSU cap over UGA or LSU headgear.
Asked whether there was truth to reports that Smith had grown an inch or two -- reportedly he now measures 6'4" -- and bulked up since the season ended, McDonald said that Smith "did look taller and thicker."
Before Smith made his announcement, Lowndes OL and former FSU commit Ed Christian told the audience that he'd be signing a Letter of Intent to Auburn.
Eric Dungy to Oregon. In other last-minute commitment news, Tampa Plant DB Eric Dungy is headed west. Dungy chose what's apparently a full schollie at Oregon over the gray shirt reportedly offered by the Noles.
