On how ULM's defense will try to slow down FSU.
Berry: "We blitz a lot of people and we put a lot of people in the box. And that creates problems in terms of being able to block the extra helmet that shows up in those gaps. They're (FSU) a big zone blocking scheme team. That's exactly what Coach Trickett and Jimbo have done for years. So we know we're going to get some zones. They have a component that's spread-oriented, where they're zoning one way one and the quarterback is reading that backside unblocked player and the quarterback has the ability to run it. So that means they're going to have to bring another back in to help block that backside edge, or motion a receiver or tight end across to be able to block all of our hats. So it's going to be interesting early in the game to figure out how they want to block our very unique style of defense. Then we'll have to adjust to whatever we see them do."
On how long they've been working on a game plan for FSU.
Berry: "The staff's being formulating it since last spring, and (since then) we were adjusting our game plan based on our personnel. So certainly we've been tweaking that game plan."
On ULM's true freshmen starters.
Berry: "Actually we have two offensive lineman starting for us that are true freshmen. Joseph Treadwell from Arkansas, is our left tackle, and our right guard is Ben Risenhoover from Oklahoma. I've been really impressed with their work ethic…And then our starting kicker is a true freshman, Justin Manton whose been very impressive. He kicked a 52-yarder yesterday like it was nothing."
On ULM's final practice and travel plans.
Berry: "Now days, more team want that familiarity of their (normal) practice routine, being able to go through a little more knowing there are no eyes out there watching you. So we'll practice here (in Monroe) on Friday. Then we'll leave that afternoon and fly to Tallahassee. We're not going to visit the stadium. I don't think that's really significant any more. And we want to get away from some of the noise in the hotel, and in Tallahassee there are a lot of things going on on gameday. So we like to stay 35 to 40 minutes away from the stadium where we play (Note: ULM will be staying at the Wildwood Resort in Crawfordville)."
