Whoa, is this outta left field. E.J. heads home for some R&R after the Champs Bowl and does an interview with a local TV station. In the clip above, at about 1:52 in, Manuel is asked about going pro. His answer can't help but get the attention of FSU fans:
“I’m looking forward to it. Whenever the time does show itself, whether it’s this year or after another season at Florida State next year…”
Say what? This year!? Not what anybody who bleeds Garnet & Gold wants to hear.
There's relief near the end, though, as he sounds fired up about coming back for his senior year. Besides, even if he's testing the waters with the NFL, draft experts should be telling him his chances are better after a strong, and complete, season.
Manuel and any other Noles considering coming out don't have much longer to decide. The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft is January 15.
